Question
Stormwater runoff from my community could be contaminated with pet waste, lawn chemicals, automobile fluids, and trash.
Storm drains lead directly to the nearest wastewater treatment plant.
Common household items like batteries, varnish, used motor oil, and paints are considered hazardous materials and should be taken to the Floyd County Solid Waste Management District Drop-off Center of mobile truck drop-off locations for proper disposal.
Water in Indian Creek, Silver Creek, Falling Run and the Ohio River can be unsafe for swimming or other direct contact.
Dumping lawn chemicals and used motor oil onto the ground or into a storm drain is a safe means of disposal.
Applying more than the recommended amount of fertilizer to your lawn will promote more grass growth.
Contractors are required by law to keep bare soils at construction sites from eroding into the street, onto neighboring properties, and local streams.
Pet waste that washes into local streams helps add nutrients to the water necessary for aquatic life to live.

I would like to participate in seminars, litter pick-up, storm drain marking, and other community projects to help improve stormwater quality in Floyd County.
